Before and After School Expectations

Before and After School Routines
Morning Routine and Transition: Developing Independence.
Students arriving after 8:15 and prior to the 8:45 bell must wait in the undercover area.  Students may join the Early Bird Reading Club at 8:30 on the scheduled days and
parents are most welcome to join in by reading to or playing a word game with their child in the library.

At 8:45 the teacher aide on duty in the undercover area organises students to walk to class. At this time parents are encouraged to quickly say goodbye to their children or to walk their child to class and say goodbye at the door.
Encouraging your child to take responsibility for the before school routine supports growing independence.
A very important developmental task leading towards independence is for students to put their lunch in the fridge and take responsibility for any notes or folders in the school bag.  A quick goodbye and hug at the classroom door will ensure a smooth transition into class.

If you need to discuss a concern with the classroom teacher please book a convenient time as the time before school is extremely busy.

After School Routine
In the interest of safety and maximising teaching time I am requesting that parents/carers remain in the undercover area as directed by our school expectations for before and after school.  Parents who arrive prior to 2:55 in the afternoon need to wait in the undercover area, this eliminates noise and distractions near classrooms during class time.  Waiting in a common area in the undercover area avoids parents having to sign in at the office as a visitor.

Thank you for your support with these safe and successful before and after school routines.
