Community Connect Forum

On Thursday, 21 August, we held our first Community Connect Forum. We had a number of participants from a variety of organisations across our community.
25 attendees in total from a range of organisations, such as...

- Early Childhood service providers-
Kath Dickson, Good Start and C&K
- Lifeline
- Child & Youth Mental Health
- P&C members
- Regional Council and
- Our school chaplain.
The purpose of the forum was to support the health, wellbeing and education of ALL children in our community and to unpack the findings of the Australian Early Development Census (AEDC) to identify how we can support young children in our community.

The meeting agenda included:
1. A presentation by Bec and Emma, Principal Project Officers, Department of Education, Training and Employment, Early Childhood Education and Care, Darling Downs South West; using the Australian Early Development Census data collected by the government.

2. Establishing the need for further Community Connect Forums.

3. Discussing and  establishing a Community Connect Early Childhood Network that meets regularly to support young children in our community.

4. Discussing the need for a community vision, including values and aspirations for our local children.

For future forums, we will begin to unpack the AEDC data further to identify areas of need in our community and discuss the challenges and solutions for maximising families' access to the community support.
