Teaching and learning

At Meringandan State School our priorities align with Education Queensland's commitment to providing world class education for all students. Our commitment is to the core learning priorities of:

  • reading

  • writing, including spelling, grammar and punctuation

  • numeracy

  • science

  • retention, attainment and transition of students

  • closing the gap between the attendance and outcomes of Indigenous and Non-Indigenous students.

To ignite learning so that each and every child can be their BEST, we believe that current informed and research based principles are central to effective teaching (pedagogy). In shaping the BEST future together, our pedagogical principles will ensure our approach to teaching and learning is informed by validated and proven teacher practices.  The principles that  SHAPE our pedagogical framework reflect our beliefs about effective practice. Our principles are:

Student centred

High expectations

Aligned practices

Purposeful learning

Effective relationships

Our pedagogical framework reflects our beliefs about best practice and outlines our SHAPE approach to teaching.
